The Chemistry Department has a long – standing and mature inquiry – based curriculum that is completely designed around the idea we call “Progressive Independence”.  Progressive Independence begins in the first year chemistry lab course with a discovery – based lab curriculum, that ends each semester with a guided, student – designed,  two – week research project.  As our students move through the chemistry curriculum, they rapidly progress toward an even more advanced self – designed laboratory inquiry model.  In their junior year, our students take two six – hour per week integrated lab courses. These integrated lab courses allow them to apply in – class knowledge to real – world applications utilizing our state – of – the – arts technology towards research areas that expands the sub – disciplines of chemistry (organic, inorganic, biochemistry, and physical chemistry).  The integrated lab courses give our students an opportunity to discover their research interest by concluding with a self – designed, four – week research project.  By their junior year, our students’ confidence levels, in their research abilities and analytical skills, implore them to seek out an honors thesis research project.  By their senior year, our students take on completely independent research projects, advanced labs, or an honors research thesis.

Our graduates have had successes in gaining acceptance into top graduate schools, medical schools, dental schools, and industries all over the United States and even abroad.
